The Politecnico di Torino and the Consorzio CINID are organizing the forthcoming 4th EGU Leonardo Conference on the Hydrological Cycle:
HYDROLOGY AND SOCIETY:
Connections between Hydrology and Population dynamics, Policy making and Power Generation.
The Leonardo Conferences are complementary to the EGU General Assembly: they are focused on a specific topic and foster an intensive exchange among a limited group of participants.
The 2012 EGU Leonardo Conference will be held in Torino, Italy on 14-16 November 2012.
Final abstract deadline is June 15, 2012.
Main themes around which a multi-disciplinary participation is encouraged are:
- Hydrology and Demographic pressure under global change: Societal adaptations and human induced land changes on catchment hydrology, Virtual water trade and food security, Desertification and primary water requirements, Open science (data and tools) for sustainable development
- Hydrology and water policies: Opportunities and problems in the implementation of the international protocols and EU environmental legislation, EU and international programs impact on the research in Hydrology Economic policy instruments and regulations measures for water management
- Hydrology and Power availability for sustainable development: Environmental sustainability and water conflicts related to hydropower, Hydrological tools for assessing policies of hydropower efficiency, Climatological implications in energy production from the sea, Water-related energy issues in developed and emerging countries
- Cross-cutting Theme: Governance of Water-related Risks.
Financial support has been requested to cover expenses of a limited number of participants from developing countries.
Final abstract deadline is June 15, 2012.
Authors will be notified of the abstract acceptance by July 15, 2012.
